The 1920's Haunted Nun

This is an item from Italy, 1920's.

We acquired this Italian artifact because the original owner wanted to get rid of it because his dog would not stop barking at it.

Our investigation has found this doll was given to a middle aged nun by a young man, and eventually the nun and that man secretly became involved in a romantic relationship. It is believed a spell was originally put on this doll that pushed the nun into the arms of the man. After a short time, the public was made aware of their affair, and the nun was forced from the church with her belongings (this doll being part of that). The couple never married, it was nothing more than a physical affair. Because of the shame it brought to her, and the torment of being ostracized, the nun ultimately commited suicide.
